Audi S4 Twin Turbo: The Creation of my Twin Turbo S4

This is a year 2000 AUDI S4. She has a manual 6 speed transmission, and has Audi's Quattro all wheel drive

system. The S4 comes from the factory with a twin turbo 2.7 liter engine. However, this S4 has been modified to replicate the twin turbo AUDI RS4 that was never sold in America.

This was accomplished by the modifications listed below, many of which are OEM on the RS4. The modifications allow this car to make much more power than the RS4 that she was based off of.

Although some may be wary of buying cars with aftermarket parts, this particular audi may be the exception. Many of the parts used to bring a S4 to Stg III level are more reliable than the stock form of the car. Also with a higher performance machine, the basic mechanical parts must be completely sound. New O2 sensors, Water pump, fuel pump, timing belt, are some of the many parts that have been replaced on this car that all cars need, but may not be as noticeable at a stock performance level.

1. Brand New OEM AUDI RS4 Borg Warner K04 turbos. These turbos are the exact same ones used in the AUDI Rs4 sold in Europe. These alone cost $2200(more now).

They are good for 450-550 HP! Look at the variety of dyno charts different tuners have done with these ko4's:

(This is AWE tunings dyno readout, which is known to be milder than the Autospeed kit this car has on it.

The KO4 turbos are more reliable and durable than the KO3 turbos that come in stock cars, that often need to be replaced at higher mileages. If installed properly, they will last for many many miles. Some owners have put over 70,000 miles on these turbos while having a daily driveable 500 horsepower car.

2. OEM RS4 inlet pipes- These pipes couple to the larger sized turbos, and are an OEM part found on the original RS4. $500

3.AUTOSPEED FUELING KIT: $2100

The car is running a full Stage 3 Autospeed Fueling kit which is a very popular choice with S4 owners. I chose this fueling kit because of the wide support network, it's very powerful performance

top notch quality, and it's OEM like daily drivability.

Phenolic spacers

for the fuel rail, 60 # Siemens Injectors , Custom machined 85mm maf housing, OEM Rs4 accordian hose, new coolant temp sensor

(green thing), 6 Bosch Platinum plugs, and the a new software tune for the ECU. I bought all the programs available: So there is a 91 octane tune, a Valet mode, a KILL mode, and a RACE FILE! 109 octane only!!! I was warned you must make sure there is not any another octane in there if you choose this program. I have never used the 109 octane file, but I have heard glowing reviews about it, and people who take the car to the track are achieving 11.X second 1/4 miles easily and well into 122 MPH+ on trap speeds. ( A NEW GTR is trapping 124 MPH and 11.5 seconds!) You access the programs by using your computer and a Vagcom dongle I am giving free with the car.

4. Bosch 044 Fuel Pump:

This Fuel Pump is one of the strongest pumps available for this car. This allows the whole turbo kit to run safely by always having the demanded needed amount of fuel. It flows well beyond what the car needs for fuel supply. The pump costs $425 with the basket.

The pump is only 2 months old. The 044 is much quieter than the Walbro that some S4 owners install, and is more reliable and powerful.

5. ER Intercoolers: (EVOLUTION RACE-)

These are the largest side mount intercoolers available intercoolers for this car.

They keep intake air temps very low, and even at full throttle IAT's do not change that much, especially compared to oth

er brands. I was able to buy these while they were in stock, they are so popular many customers at one point were waiting up to 6 months to even get a set! They cost $1300.

These were installed in the car 4 months ago.

6. APR BI PIPE:

The APR bi pipe is an original design created by

APR engineering, and replaces the troublesome throttle body boot that many S4 owners are plagued by, as it is prone to leak. The APR bipipe also claims to reduce intake temps, but I think that is negligible.

This kit was purchased from PureMS, $580! These typically need to be replaced on all S4's after about 60k miles, beware of this hidden cost when considering used S4's.
